Baby Shower is an annual community and educational event. Any Morgan County woman who is currently pregnant or has had a baby in the last 12 months is invited to attend. Dad’s are welcome and strongly encouraged to attend a class created just for them. Participants have the opportunity to meet and talk with representatives from various early childhood agencies, receive information on Infant CPR, Safe Sleep practices, child seat safety, importance of early childhood literacy, and development expectations. Participants will receive new baby gifts and have chances at raffles for “gently used” items. Our April 27, 2017 shower was a great success. 36 parents, including 14 fathers, attended. The CPR and car seat sessions were especially helpful. Thanks to everyone who helped make this such a meaningful evening. Click here to see more information about the event.
Back to School Bash is your chance to give Morgan County school children a good start on the school year. We collect supplies for students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Click here to see information about a past event.
Empty Bowls is our primary fund raising event of the year. Each November on the Friday before Thanksgiving the community is invited to support Starting Points by attending this dinner and silent auction event. The name Empty Bowls and the simple supper of soup and bread provided by local restaurants intentionally draws our attention to those who go without food. Beautifully hand-crafted bowls are sold as admission to the event. The silent auction includes a variety of local artisan items, gift baskets, and gift certificates. This year the event will be held on November 17, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Berkeley Springs High School. Plan to join us for this night of fun that benefits so many in our community.
Grandparents Day Celebration is a wonderful opportunity for grandparents and children to strengthen their bond. This activity helps West Virginia children grow up free from abuse and neglect.  Click here to see a past flyer.
Holiday Helpers is an annual event that brings Christmas to low-income families in Morgan County. Community partners, such as churches, businesses, individuals, and organizations purchase gifts for children of eligible families. Eligibility and registration information is available each fall. For more information call 304-258-5600. Click here to see last year’s schedule.
Public Safety is of interest to everyone in our community. Our last interactive public safety event on July 22, 2017 at Berkeley Springs High School was a big success. Fire safety equipment, big exciting trucks, and local heroes welcomed families to this free day of fun and learning. Click here to see the flyer for this event.
Restaurant Nights are a tasty way to financially support Starting Points, frequent area eateries, and enjoy an evening out with friends. “Eat Out For Hunger was last held on  November 7, 2017 with a portion of each check being donated to support the Meal Time Community Kitchen at Starting Points. 19,700 meals were served in 2016 to those struggling with food resources. It’s a perfect match. The Berkeley Springs area is known for its fantastic restaurants and Morgan County Starting Points is known for providing 3 hot meals a week to area families needing a hand. Once a year these two wonderful community assets come together to provide residents and visitors the rare opportunity to help people in Morgan County while enjoying a fun dining experience with friends and family.
